Finally, Beer That Tastes Like Winning

PORTLAND, Ore (KOIN) — Nothing goes together quite like beer and competition, and there’s an event this weekend that will have you lifting a glass to celebrate. For the first time in 5 years, The Bitburger Challenge is back at the Prost! PDX Biergarten. Brewers from the PNW and around the country compete to brew up the best German Style Pilsner in all the land! Three decorated local beer experts came in-studio to tell us all about it. We welcomed Sam Pecoraro, the Brewmaster at Von Ebert, Whitney Burnside, owner and Brewmaster at Grand Fir Brewing, and Dan Hart, the owner of Prost!

CELEBRATE OREGON BEER

CELEBRATE OREGON BEER

For the best part of the past year I have been working on a project I’m finally able to announce. It started when I pitched our local travel sites on the idea of updating their beer coverage, which is both anemic and out of date. This is a minor travesty, because every state’s travel association should at least adequately promote local beer. It’s worse for Oregon, though, a genuinely exceptional place for beer.

Ask Eater: Where Can I Find a Truly Kid-Friendly Patio?

Ask Eater: Where Can I Find a Truly Kid-Friendly Patio?

Hey, Jill. As someone firmly in their aunt era, I feel you. I can think of several great kid-friendly restaurants (we have a map for it, even), but finding a place to grab happy hour, or a place where you can grab a beer while your kid smashes quesadilla bites into their face, is a bigger challenge. I have a few thoughts; I’m going to focus on patios that are decently spacious, so kids don’t end up under foot, and ones that offer something boozy for you and something snack-y for kids.
